Kevin's Defense

The early morning spread to butter up the committee...and to feed some of the poor grad students.  We let the grad students keep the leftovers for their noon meeting.

I won't lie...I have been wondering what he has REALLY been doing for the last 5 years.  This was a good way for me to finally really understand.

Grad student friends Chris and Josh couldn't help but show their support!
It was awesome!  Someone actually asked what the D fence was...Kevin said, "I guess you are not a sports fan."  Ecologists/scientists are sometimes a little strange and out of the loop!

Kevin made me promise not to take pix during the talk but I was sneaky and got one.

Kevin and his advisor, Beth.  She has been a godsend.  There was a bbq at her house and we can officially/unofficially call Kevin Dr. Badik!

I was so proud during his talk and I cried twice because I am so hormonal. I was so touched by what Beth said and how well he did on his talk plus he added a slide with me on the end and said something really sweet and I was so impressed by my wonderful husband.  Gosh, I got such a winner!

Nursery

The bookshelves turned out great but we need stronger rods.  Kevin's coon hat is now Indiana's.  Soon the picture frame from CJ will have his little foot and hand print along with an actual picture.

The curtains came from a thrift store and happened to match the comforter that I bought when Cora was a baby and would sleep over.

The stand was a white shelf that wouldn't shut so Kevin added a magnet to keep it closed and I painted it green with chalkboard paint on the front to write on and now it holds board books.

Aunt Grace sent the great tree frame hanging over the door.  She brought it back from Slovakia and it matched great!

These three pictures were from Annie, the Van Dellen's mom.  She made them when the boys were young and since they didn't want them and they matched the colorful room we decided to hang them up for Indiana.  I love all the wonderful history going into Indy's room already.

Of course, you couldn't have a boys room without some Yankees gear and Ohio State decals.  The black cart holds pacifiers and came from Costa Rica as a gift from Aunt Jade.  The butterfly picture was given to Indiana from Grandma Long and was made by the 2nd grade class at her school.  It is butterfly pictures that were colored and pinned to look like a real butterly case.

We still need to get a toy bin to put the stuffed animals away.  Grandma Badik sent a bunch of cute blankets and they matched so well!  Grandma Kohoutek luckily got the mattress and helped pick out all the sheets otherwise that crib would have been pretty uncomfortable.

Mick, Jill, Gabe, Noah, and Isaac sent us the great decals for the walls.  My work friends gave us the monster lamp and stuffed animal which doesn't match the animal theme but I loved them so much, at least they were the right colors.

My Aunt Peg gave us the awesome Noah's ark rug which really pulls the room together.

Lastly, the plate we brought from Costa Rica, on our honeymoon, is hanging over the window.  It is a little crazy and full of stuff but it all is filled with love and everyone contributed so much to making it all come together!  Thank you for all your wonderful contributions to Indiana's first bedroom...where he probably will not sleep for months but it looks great nonetheless!

I love our family and friends for all the love, encouragement, and support they have shown us through this process and I am so proud I get to tell my son all the cool stories about how his room came together.

Tailgate

It has been between 80-90 degrees except for this day!  It was freezing!  But the next day back to warm and sunny!!

Betsy is in the hood, she kind of looked like Kenny from south park.

We made it to half time and then Betsy was too cold and we went home but it was a great time!

My Dad's Birthday

We just had a little dinner for my dad's birthday.  Kevin couldn't make it because he had too much work to do...but we are going tailgating this weekend to make up for it.

I had to get pix with Grammy, Ginny, and my Dad and Betsy since I didn't get any at the baby shower!

36 weeks

In the home stretch!  One more month...maybe???

Indiana's Baby Shower

Kevin balled all the melons and scooped out the watermelon.  I made the baby face!  Pinterest success!!!

Unfortunately, since I was not the one taking pictures...no one got any pictures at the baby shower but my Aunt Lori and her husband Willie.  I was really bummed because we missed so many good things but at least she took a few and at least one with me and Kevin together.
I guess this is week 35 picture!

We had everyone color this blank material and sign their name for a guest book.  My Aunt Lori sewed the ends to become a hanging bookshelf.  I have completed pictures in the nursery and will post them soon.

My mom made it to the party, which was awesome because I haven't seen her in over a year!

Me and Jenn...prego sisters

My best friend Rachel who did the present table and all the decorations which everyone loved and complimented.  She brought sunflowers from her garden and little pinwheels and a bunch of onsies that had hilarious sayings on them.

Aunt Lori and me

I love this picture of my mom with Cora.  They both look so happy to just be hanging out in the bounce house together.

and no party is complete without cornhole!

The bounce house was a hit!

Indiana Jones Bullwhip

I want to take pictures of the baby in Kevin's Indiana Jones hat but I decided it just wouldn't be the same without a bullwhip.  So, I ordered one online and Kevin's eyes became huge saucers when it arrived.  He has already gotten much entertainment from it, I had to remind him it is officially Indiana's.  He said, "Well, I will hold onto it until he is old enough to be able to play with it safely."  He played with it that day and then at the baby shower him and the Van Dellen boys played with it, roping a chair, for about an hour.  He is getting better.

Rib Cook Off

Reno has an annual rib cookoff and although it is pricey, it is ooooohhhh so good!!
This is Kevin's "I am sick of the blog" picture!

Emmet was loving the music!  Hw was bobbing his head even doing some arm pumps later, which I didn't get on camera.  But never stopped putting kettle corn in his mouth the whole time...we just didn't tell his mom how much kettle corn he really had!
