I am a big boy !!

Indy has been trying rice cereal and it is pretty funny because he is still figuring out the spoon but today he tried pears step 1, specifically for four month olds.  He liked it but the faces were great!

Oooh what is that!
Shove it in mom
Umm what is that taste

It is strange and has a interesting texture

Yep, I am sold...more please!

Play date

We had a play date with some friends the other day and Indy was pretty popular with the little girls.  He could care less about them but both of them were very interested in him.  Rae was sleeping but we had a great time and Indy played with himself for three hours while we chatted and hung with the kids.  Aria is one and on the move now and she really wanted to take everything out of my purse and diaper bag.  She carried my wallet (in her hand) around for a really long time and I think wanted to put it in the dog bowl at one point, along with my phone!

Indy loving those older woman!
Don't worry we only let him play with his baseball rattle in his left hand!

We spoke too soon

So Indy did not take a nap all day Saturday and screamed the entire hour each time we put him in the crib.  By the end of the day, he was exhausted, we were exhausted, and his voice was horse.  We decided we needed to take it one thing at a time.  We will focus on night sleeping and we can worry about naps next weekend.  He went down easily that night with no crying and woke at 1:30 where he proceeded to try to put himself to sleep repeatedly.  His primary problem is he brings his knees to his chest to fall asleep and once slumber starts to take him, his feet fall and it wakes him up and he screams for 15 minutes.  He did this for 2 hours.  Finally he fell asleep at 3:30.  He has figured that out and no longer has problems waking in the night.  Every once in a while he will fuss for a little bit but he usually just plays with his feet until he is ready to sleep.  Overall the transition has been much smoother than anticipated although lately he wakes up at 4:30 every morning wide awake (lucky mommy!!).  We are going to try napping again this weekend to try to get him on a better schedule...wish us luck!

Good morning

We found a happy smiling baby at 6:30 on Saturday morning.  He was kicking and playing and I was so proud of the great job he did sleeping in his own bed all night.

Good morning baby!

Happy as a clam (that makes tow of us)

Missing mommies cuddles

Sleep training

We began sleep training last week.  We finally had enough sleepless night and decided he needed to cry a little to get a better nights sleep...and so did we.  We attempted sleep training a little while back and it ended with me crying along with the baby.  Attempt two, Kevin decided he couldn't take it anymore and that letting him cry too long was cruel and unnecessary.  Well, here we are again...

Friday night we hunkered down with White Russians preparing for the two hour scream session and much scarring to all our hearts.  Twenty-eight minutes later Indy was fast asleep in his crib and we were pleasantly surprised.  We went to bed preparing for the first time he realized that he was alone in his crib moment.  It came and went and he never cried more than five minutes.  We all had a wonderful night of sleep.  YIPPEE!!!

Rookie move

It was a beautiful day and I thought I would take Indy in the yard so I put baby sunscreen on him.  Well that was a mistake because his eczema flared up.

Poor baby!!

This is my life

I am so proud that my son has learned to grab and hold tight, although it comes with consequences!
It took four pix until I could manage to not just get one of the top of my head while he held on.

Brains...

Speed racer

Indy got a car during Christmas and he loves it.  He holds tha handlebars and pushes the buttons.  I have to hold him but he loves zooming around the house.  The other day I made him get off because I was getting tired and he threw a fit until I sat him back on the bike.  I guess he likes it!!

Uncle Willie Art

Lori recently sent me the most recent installation!  I was very flattered and Indy got a huge smile...I showed him the picture ; )

Lucky to have

I am so lucky to have such awesome in-laws.  A lot of people cannot say that and  dread visiting or spending time with the in laws.  Every holiday we get reminders that we are loved and cared for and my son is one spoiled kiddo by all his grandparents.
Thank you for always thinking of us and including us in your holiday celebration.  We love you!

Indy singing with Daddy

The other night I was cleaning Indy's room and putting away his laundry and I hear him making noise in the living room while Kevin is playing his guitar.  I turn the corner and see Kevin singing over Indy.  I realized Indy wasn't fussing he was singing with Kevin.  Kevin said they do it all the time and Indy just plays with his feet and sings along.  I wish I could have got a picture of his face but as soon as he would see me he would stop.

Crazy about the balloon

We went out to visit Grandma and Grandpa Long today.  Indy really has not gotten to spend much time with them and I wanted him to get more comfortable with them.  Yeah, that is for totally selfish reasons...we need a babysitter here and there ; )  Grammy and Ginny came out to visit and he was a happy giggly little man until the very end when he lost his s*#$ and we had to go.  There was a balloon left from Jade's birthday and Indy thought is was the funniest thing ever.

Tushy giggles

Indiana will find the silliest things hilarious and you cannot help but continue to be ridiculous to get him to giggle over and over again.

4 months

Accident prone

I was cleaning my microtome (a machine that cuts paraffin embedded tissue) and forgot to remove my blade.  I sliced my middle finger pretty deep at around 11:15.  I was hosting a meeting at 11:30 so I decided to wait to go to the work comp doc.  By the time my meeting was over the blood had slowed. So, I decided not to go back to the doctor and get back to work...oops!  Around 3:00 I removed my gloves and was bleeding again and had soaked through my bandage.  I ended up with three stitches and a bruised ego.
They bandaged it up and unfortunately Indy thinks this must go into his mouth!

Indy on board

Our friends, Jeff and Catherine Van Dellen gave us this!!!  So AWESOME!
I tried to get Kevin to put a baby on board in his car window and it has been sitting on the floor in the back seat since we got it.  I guess it just wasn't cool enough because this went right up.  I have to admit it is pretty bitchin'.

The finished product

It turned our pretty cool!  There was a smudge on the inside of the mug and the light saber didn't full come out but overall pretty decent.

Pinterest success!!!

Splish splash I am taking a bath

I usually take a bath with Indy on the weekends. I didn't really feel like getting in the bath so I got to see how the boys do it on the weekdays.

He was one happy camper!

Full hands

Kevin works on Saturdays so I have all three boys, the human and furry kind.  We went on a walk which is always interesting with two dogs let alone a stoller.  By the end Zep was limping, Odin had diahrea, and baby was crying...not a total success but we got out of the house at least!

Tuscany night

Friday night I went out with a group of girls from work to a dinner event at the local pottery painting place.  We had an amazing pasta dinner with wine tasting, dessert, and pottery.  I made Kevin a mig for sweetest day...which I always tgink is called sweetums day.  Kevin is always saying that it isn't the candy company from parks and rec...whatever!  I guess I will just give it to him for Valentines Dat since no one on the west coast knows what sweetest day is anyway!
I got the idea from Pinterest!
Stay tuned for the finished product once it is fired.

Emmet

We see Emmet regularly but he rarely shows much interest in Indy.  I guess when Kevin went to Chet and Mandy's house Emmet wanted to hold Indy.  Kevin said he kept telling them that Indy needed his blanket or his pacifier.  Very sweet!
And of course, the loving choke hold!
